5 Months Away...!?!?!?

Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!! Much has happened since our last post. We have definately noticed that God seems to open one door at a time. We cannot see the whole path in front of us, nor the entirety of where He will eventually lead; but He gives us enough confirmation and information to take each next step. Here are the highlights from the past few months:

  • Northwest Church has agreed to act as our sending church, meaning they will support us spiritually, emotionally, and financially, as well as manage our funds. We should know by the end of January how much they will be able to help us financially. This is a HUGE answer to prayer, and we could not be more excited!
  • We are pursuing training through Youth With a Mission (YWAM). They have a Discipleship Training School in Arua, Uganda that will prepare us spiritually, cross-culturally, and linguistically. Finding this training program has been another answer to prayer! The next DTS starts on June 9, 2010, so Lord willing, we will be there. We need to have our funding secured for the full three year committment in Kenya prior to leaving for training in Uganda, as we will not return to the United States between training and entering the mission field. We have two women praying about possibly accompanying us for the first 3 months of our training, to assist in homeschooling our kids while we take our own classes. Please pray that one of these women will be able to serve in this way.
  • The Lord has blessed us with steady increases in our funding. We are at nearly 30% of our total needs for our time in training, and our three years in Kitale. We have a way to go to meet our funding goal prior to June 9. However, we are confident that if the Lord wants us there by then, it will all come together.
  • The Paul Colman benefit concert is still a possibility. We have been emailing with Paul regularly. However, we have been unable to find a venue that will seat 1000+ people, that is available on one of the weekends in March that Paul is able to come. If you have any ideas for a venue, please let us know quickly!
  • We are meeting with the Missions Committee at Highline Christian Church in early January. Jason's Dad serves as an elder there. Please pray that they will be able to assist us with some funding.
Thanks for taking the time to read our blog, pray for us, and encourage us along in this amazing adventure in faith!

  1. We are ready for you to be here. We are amazed at your findings. We jumped in with both feet and the cross cultural experience is hard to adjust to after all the excitement wears off so you are probably smart to take the course especially your children. So we are praying for you and look forward to spending time together with you and giving lots of hugs when you need them. The money will come just in time of when God plans for your arrival. No doubt about it.
Your blog is very encouraging and exciting to watch the support come in. You will always need more than your thought but God will always provide what you really need. So this is a place of learning to be content and learning not to be so American in mindset. Wow does God teach us lessons. We love you all even if we don't know you all in person you are our family and we love you. Connie and John
